What makes cabinets different
Cabinet surfaces are usually factory-finished, often glossy, and almost always contaminated with cooking residue. Paint will not bond to any of that without thorough degreasing, sanding and a bonding primer. Skipping those stages is the single most common cause of cabinet finishes chipping at the edges within months.
Doors and drawer fronts are normally removed, labelled and finished off the frames so the coating lays out evenly, with frames and boxes finished in place.
Suitable cabinetry
Solid wood, MDF and most factory-finished doors can be painted successfully. Thermofoil and heavily damaged or delaminating doors are more difficult and should be assessed individually before being included in a scope.
Living with the kitchen during the work
Cabinet projects take longer than a room repaint because each coat needs proper cure time before handling. Expect the kitchen to be partly out of service for several days, and expect hardware, hinges and interior contents to need to be dealt with in advance.
Preparation included in the scope

- Degrease every surface, then sand to break the existing finish
- Repair chips and fill unwanted hardware holes
- Apply a bonding primer suited to the substrate
- Apply finish coats with full cure time between them before refitting
